Board of Adult and Community Education (BACE)

The NSW Board of Adult and Community Education was established in 1991 to promote the provision of adult and community education in NSW, allocate government funds to ACE providers and advise the Minister of needs and trends in adult and community education.

Adult and Community Education in NSW is delivered primarily through a network of 62 community colleges, delivering at more than 400 locations annually. There are currently 48 ACE organisations which are Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) delivering accredited vocational education and training or accredited and prevocational language and literacy. The Deaf Education Network is one of 14 ACE RTOs located in the metropolitan area which the Board funds to deliver nationally recognised training.

Community Colleges NSW

Community Colleges NSW is a not-for-profit association formed for the advancement of adult and community education in NSW, representing the interests of its members to government, community and corporate sectors.

Deaf Education Network is one of 64 member colleges who provide adult and community education across the state of NSW.

NSW Department of Education and Training's (DET) Training Market

Each year, the NSW government identifies special and strategic training requirements and contracts Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and New Apprenticeship Centres to deliver vocational education and training to meet these needs. The process of identifying, approving and contracting training providers to deliver training on behalf of the department is managed by the Training Market Unit.

Deaf Education Network is one of the provides on DET's Approved Providers List and is regularly contracted to deliver training to Deaf people and support the Deaf Community.

Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB)
 

VETAB is a NSW statutory body established by the NSW Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Act 1990. VETAB has three main functions, which are:

  • to register and monitor training organisations based in New South Wales.
  • to accredit VET courses in accordance with national standards, and
  • to approve training organisations' delivery of VET to overseas students in New South Wales.

Deaf Education Network delivers courses that are VETAB accredited qualifications.
